Every year there seems to be that one gift that is so popular you just can’t seem to get your hands on one. It’s the one that every kid out there wants. Last year it was Fingerlings, whatever they are. I still have no idea. The year before it was Hatchimals, which ironically, you could find everywhere the following Christmas.
I’m old enough to remember the mad dash parents made into the store to snatch up Cabbage Patch Kids. Thank goodness I never wanted one. You can add Furbies to that hard to find list as well.
I haven’t heard anything or read any stories about this year’s hard to find toy. Maybe there isn’t one this year. That’ll make things a little easier for moms and dads. There’s nothing worse than a disappointed kid on Christmas morning!
I don’t know if my mom ever had as hard a time getting her hands on a popular gift as we do nowadays, but I can’t imagine that part of Christmas has changed much. What has changed is how we go about buying those gifts. My mom had to go from store to store to store to get her shopping done. Usually, my wife and I simply go to a website to buy gifts, but thanks to the uncertainty with Canada Post this year, we got a bit of a feel of what it must have been like for my mom way back when. We haven’t ordered one thing online this year. Hey, I felt like a kid at Christmas every time one of those packages would arrive at our front door!
Whatever that hot toy is this year, you’d better get it now. They go quickly. It won’t be long before you’ll be, as my mom would say, S.O.L.!
