Whether you are watching an NHL game live this year or on TV, you will see that referees will be remembering one of their former colleagues.
Starting Wednesday, referees will wear a patch to honour the late Mick McGeough.
The Regina-born McGeough died last month in Regina after having life support removed following a stroke at the age of 62
McGeough refereed 1,083 regular-season games and 63 playoff contests from 1987 through 2008 in the NHL. He also did countless games across Saskatchewan as a referee in both the Western Hockey League and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
