Regina Fire is warning residents to stay away from thin ice around Regina.
Crews responded to several call this year with people and pets on the ice, with some falling through.
Fire Marshal Randy Ryba said there has been many calls for service in the past.
“Certainly if the public sees anybody on bodies of water that appears to be thin ice, they should call Regina city police or in an emergency, certainly call 9-1-1.”
Ryba said there have been reports of people on the ice already this year.
“That was even a few weeks ago, when the ice was a lot thinner,” Ryba said. “Nobody has fallen through yet, and that is certainly good news, but we just encourage people to stay off the bodies of water.”
Ryba adds dog owners should keep their pets leashed to avoid them from running onto the ice and falling through.
