The provincial junior curling championships will be held in Saskatoon at the end of the month.
The winner on the women’s side will head to the nationals which go January 19-27 in Prince Albert, but it was announced on Tuesday that the runner-up will go as well.
CurlSask says Yukon can not field a representative this year so as a result it has been determined Saskatchewan will send its provincial champ and its runner-up with that runner-up team being declared “Host” for the event.
On the men’s side, Saskatchewan will still have just its provincial champ in the field.
Curling Canada also announced Saskatchewan will get an extra spot at the 2019 Canadian Wheelchair Championship in Boucherville, Quebec. The sport’s national governing body has decided to add an extra team to the competition and is giving it to Saskatchewan seeing they won the 2018 title.
