The Regina Pats knew they would struggle when they traded Nick Henry and Jake Leschyshyn to the Lethbridge Hurricanes and they have.
Since that deal, the team has only been able to collect one point. That was in a shootout loss to Red Deer.
On Wednesday, the 8-22-0-1 Pats will look to end an eight-game losing streak as they go into Swift Current to take on a Broncos team sitting last in the Eastern Division with a record of 5-23-1-1.
The team has had chances to win during this streak, but they have been unable to close out 3rd period leads.
Forward Scott Mahovlich is well aware of that.
“We get the lead and it comes down to the third period and we blow it.” Mahovlich said. “That’s a maturity thing. We are doing things right, but we just have to go out, hold that lead and play smart down the stretch.”
After Wednesday’s game, the team will have a home-and-home with Moose Jaw starting Friday at the Brandt Centre before taking off for the Christmas break.
620 CKRM will have the game from the Credit Union I-Plex starting at 7.
