After many years of using a lagoon system, Lumsden is finally getting a waste water treatment plant.
Work has already begun, as crews level off the ground ahead of the start of construction in the spring.
It’s a big step for the town, a progressive one, something the town mayor is certainly aware of.
“It’s top of the line in terms of waste water treatment,” said Mayor Bryan Matheson. “It just does all the environmental things that we should be doing as human kind to make our world a better place.”
For years, Lumsden has relied on a lagoon system for their waste water, but the town has grown too big for that to be an effective system.
The facility is expected to be ready to use come 2020.
