The MS Musical Christmas Card has wrapped up, raising another $18,000 in 2018.
The three week event, hosted the first three Sundays of December at the 620 CKRM studios, gave listeners the opportunity to pledge and/or donate money and have a Christmas Carol played on-air for them.
“We know that one in two people know somebody that lives with MS,” said Lisa Smith, Director of Development for the MS Society, who noted the importance of always keeping in mind people with multiple sclerosis.
“This is a wonderful time of the year where people can give an annual donation in memory or in dedication to a loved one who is living with this disease.”
This year marked the 30th year of the event, which has now raised around $380,000, with all funds going to supporting multiple sclerosis programs and services here in Saskatchewan, as well as research.
“We have had two sponsors: SaskTel Pioneers, who came on with a matching amount last week for $2,000. We have Brandt Tractor Ltd. this week that is matching all donations up to $4,000,” Smith said.
In 2017 $14,400 was raised.
