Well, can you believe Christmas is almost here already? My hope is that you will be spending it with family and friends this year, eating a nice home cooked meal, and enjoying the camaraderie that goes along with the spirit of the season. Me? I will be in an all out grudge match with my family over board games. Yes, we are a very competitive bunch when it comes to games specifically Scattergories! The rules are strongly enforced and deviation from said rules are met with a swift round of condemnation!
I may have exaggerated a just a bit, but that is how we’ll be spending Christmas this year. After supper we clear the table off, pour glasses full of cheer, and get down to business. While Scattergories is the most popular, it’s not uncommon to play trivia games, “who done it” games, and card games. The best thing about board games is the face to face interaction one gets. Phones are put away, tablets are turned off, the TV is muted, and radio is turned down low for background Christmas music. The one on one family fun is what makes board games so enjoyable! The night ends late, usually with sore bellies from laughing so hard. We play games other nights throughout the year but it’s Christmas that makes for the memorable game nights.
As one gets older, one starts to realize that Christmas presents aren’t as important. The food, drink, food times, and board games, is what’s really enjoyable! Having said that, I’m open to board game suggestions! Feel free to email me a fun board game you like to play.
