Regina Police continue to receive reports of parcel thefts from door steps across the city.
Chief Evan Bray says with online shopping more prevalent than ever, it’s something that unfortunately will continue.
Bray said making your home more secure could work as a deterrent to package thieves.
“People will install video cameras at their doors, and have other ways of notification if someone is at their door,” Bray said. “Really all that gives us is an investigative lead to follow up on.”
What Bray believes could really be the difference maker is people going the extra step to have parcels delivered to designated pick up locations, instead of having items left unattended during the day at front doors.
“Knowing that things are delivered and left, there is processes that you can set up so they’re not left on your doorstep, they take them to a centre where you have to go and sign something to retrieve them, although it may be an extra step it might be the best way to keep your parcel safe,” said Bray.
