Boxing day shopping was a popular activity in the Queen City Wednesday.
The deals were especially good at London Drugs in the east end, where there was a line up before the store opened at 9 AM.
Store Manager John Van Koll said online shopping has had an impact on shopping, but in a good way.
“People will actually shop online from the comfort of their home, come down and pick it up, and also pick up other things that will actually support the product that they’re buying.”
Van Koll said the busy time means an increase in staff.
“We maximize all of our staff on this particular day, actually all of Christmas week, as well as Boxing day and (Thursday), we put as many people as we possibly can.”
Van Koll says Boxing Day and Black Friday are the busiest days of the year at his store.
“The only difference between now and Black Friday is Black Friday is more of a Christmas set-up and start, people are looking for Christmas gifts, whereas Boxing Day is more personal,” Van Koll said. “You’re bringing in your Christmas gift cards, your Christmas money, and you’re buying what you want to buy.”
However, the deals won’t be one-time events, as London Drugs has many of the same deals on Thursday.
