The Regina Pats are 3-0 to start the second half of the season.
They became just the third team to beat the Prince Albert Raiders this season as they got a fantastic goaltending performance from Dean McNabb in a 2-1 win in Prince Albert Sunday night.
McNabb stopped 43 shots, 17 of them in the third period, as Regina improved its record to 12-24-0-1 on the season.
Logan Nijhoff got the scoring started for Regina just 18 seconds into the game with Liam Schioler making it 2-0 at the eight minute mark of the first. Noah Gregor pulled the Raiders to within one before the first 20 minutes, but that was it for goal-scoring as McNabb and Prince Albert’s Donovan Buskey shut the door from there.
Prince Albert did not have the services of forward Brett Leason and goaltender Ian Scott. Both are on the Canadian team at the World Juniors in British Columbia
The two teams will meet again New Year’s Day at the Brandt Centre in a 4 o’clock start. It will be the last appearance of the season by the Raiders who are the number one team in the Canadian Hockey League.
