Yesterday morning I decided to head out to the grocery store to grab some things we needed for supper. When I pulled into the parking lot I noticed a guy outside of a van, with no jacket on, dancing. The guy either lived to dance or he was still celebrating the new year. I think I’ll go with the latter on that one.
There was a parking space right beside the vehicle this guy was dancing next to, but I opted for another space, although it was a little further away from the store.
Once I was in the store I grabbed a basket, pulled the list from my pocket, and made my way around the store filling my basket and mentally checking items off my list. When I was done I was quite surprised to notice that there was no one in either of the check-out lanes. Bonus.
When the cashier was almost done ringing through my items I reached into my back pocket to grab my wallet. Uh oh. I had a pocket alright, there was just no wallet in it! I apologized to the cashier and told her I would have to run home and grab my wallet. Could she please hold my items for me and wait until I got back in about 10 minutes? No problem.
I raced out to the parking lot right past the dancing fool, who was still going strong doing his thing, and made my way home. In less than 15 minutes I was back with card in hand to retrieve my groceries. The lady was very kind and mentioned I wasn’t the first shopper that day to forget a wallet. I was glad to know I wasn’t the only dummy out there.
So much for my only New Year’s resolution, which was to never leave home without my wallet! Oh well, there’s always next year!
