Yesterday morning on the way home from work I was driving west on Saskatchewan Drive when three people decided to cross the road. There was nothing wrong with that, except for the fact that this didn’t happen at a set of lights and they didn’t even check for traffic! They just headed out on to the road and expected that everyone had to stop for them, which everyone did. Another twenty feet down the sidewalk would have put them at an intersection with a walk/don’t walk sign.
I see this all the time
Obviously, pedestrians have the right-of-way, but sometimes I wish they didn’t.
This morning on my way to work I was following a car load of people who apparently were trusting themselves to a driver who had no clue where he wanted to go. During our drive down Albert St. this vehicle signalled 3 different times while I was behind him. He’d get into a turning lane, signal, and then dart back out into the lane he was originally in! If I was a cop behind him I would have been more than a little suspicious.
When he finally decided to turn on to Victoria Avenue in front of me, he got into the far right lane and signalled again to turn right, and again he kept going straight. I pulled up next to this carload of idiots and counted five people in the car. The driver either couldn’t decide where he was going or someone in the backseat was barking out wrong directions. Either way, I’ve got a feeling they shouldn’t have been on the road at all!
Whether they’re walking or behind the wheel of a car, there are some people you really have to keep an eye on out there in the wee hours of the morning.
