A young Regina Pats team has had trouble closing out games during the 2018-19 season and that is what happened again Sunday on home ice leading to a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Jarret Tyczka’s seeing-eye shot from the blueline beat Dean McNabb to break a 3-all tie on a two-man advantage nine minutes into the final period. The T-Birds, who saw a seven-game losing streak end with the win, then added goals from Andrej Kukuca and Noah Philp to take the victory.
Regina got goals from Robbie Holmes, Sebastian Streu and Riley Krane. They were outshot 47-22 on the afternoon.
The loss for Regina was their 3rd straight and drops them to a mark of 12-27-1-1 on the season. They will welcome the Portland Winterhawks to town on Wednesday night in a 7 o’clock start. The Winterhawks may or may not have Cody Glass in their lineup for that game. Glass, the 6th overall pick in the 2018 NHL draft to Vegas, was a member of the Canadian junior team at the recently completed World Juniors in Vancouver.
