I think I just heard my own mother screaming with excitement today now that she knows Criminal Minds will return for a 15th and final season. I’m sure she has watched every episode at least twice because every time I visit it seems like it’s on in the background! On weekends my mom is entertained with one of the VERY frequent Criminal Minds marathon. My dad and I always give her a hard time about her love affair with the show, but it’s no secret it has done well over the years. One could equate it with the success of Law and order, NYPD Blue, and ER. The final episodes of Criminal Minds will air later this year and into 2020 which will then followed by years of reruns I’m sure. No doubt my mom will be on the edge of her seat and I’m predicting by 2035 she should be over the Criminal Minds phase.
It got me thinking about other shows out there on television and Netflix. I’m one of those individuals who always talks big and says “I’m going to binge watch that show because I’m really into it!” Guess what usually happens? I end up watching two or three episodes and then I just quit because I’m bored of it or I’ve gotten busy with something else and I just don’t go back to it. If your workplace is like ours, conversation tends to centre around the next great series on Netflix or on television and co-workers tend to really sell the heck out of a specific show to the point where I really want to see it. Personally, I’m hooked on the Stranger Things series because it’s so interesting. It’s like a Steven Spielberg movie meets a Stephen King book and I’m really looking forward to season 3, which is supposedly being released on July 4th I’m told.
Now that we’re coming up on the weekend I have a feeling many of us will be glued to Netflix watching (or re-watching) our favourite shows. A few friendly reminders for the weekend; 1) get up frequently and stretch those legs, 2) don’t hold it and damage your bladder, get to the bathroom, 3) make sure you take time to drink water and eat, and 4) make sure you have your phone charged just in case you can’t get off the couch to go to work on Monday. Otherwise, have a safe and enjoyable Netflix binge weekend!
