I consider myself a pretty good driver. I haven’t had a ticket for any driving infraction for a very long time. Sure, I get frustrated and a little impatient at times, but that’s usually because a driver in front of me has no idea how to drive. I thought I’d compile a list of my pet peeves when it comes to driving.
#1. People who don’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign. This morning on my way to work I noticed a vehicle that apparently considered a red light on a right turn as an inconvenience. The driver barely slowed down before turning right. I see it all the time, and unfortunately, some of those vehicles are city transit buses.
#2. People who don’t enter the intersection to turn left on a green light. At a busy intersection, without an advance green for turning, traffic can slow down to a crawl for those wanting to turn left. At least when a vehicle is in the intersection, it can advance when the light turns yellow. Otherwise the driver will sit there through 2 or 3 light changes while everyone behind him is doing a slow burn and honking their horns.
#3. People who drive way below the speed limit. I’ve always thought that slow drivers are just as dangerous, if not more, than fast drivers. I blog about this one often because it’s so frustrating getting behind someone who’s driving 20 clicks below the speed limit, be it on the highway or in the city. I don’t like tailgating drivers and I don’t like being tailgated, but I’ll do it sometimes hoping that the driver in front of me gets the hint.
Those are my top pet peeves when it comes to drivers and driving habits.
