I was sent a reminder from the Eric Church Fan Club – “Church Choir” that the time is approaching for the Double Down Tour. The unique and very aggressive marketing means you’ll want to make sure your credit card is cleared off.
Two totally different shows on this tour, so how many fans will be buying tickets for both? A lot I suppose.
I’ve become somewhat disillusioned by the whole Church Choir. The cost went up for the membership during the Desperate Man release. All so you could get the release on vinyl or something. I can’t even remember what the pros of this move were. I now have 2 copies of the release and haven’t cracked either one – ah vinyl – guess I best get my record player back!
Eric Church is one of my favorite performers, but lately, I feel as though the marketing machine he is has maybe outweighed some of the other reasons I first was drawn to the whole persona. We all need to have a game plan in life, or at least try to carve one out. Crafty might describe some of the moves within the Church Choir camp. Back to Back – Totally Different shows – does this drive the ticket price up? Hotels that use the Church Choir code – what actually do you get out of booking there – I guess hanging out with like minded fans. The merch is back, and Eric carries alot of cool things on tour including the very posh Lucchese boots. I will say, if I had cash, I’d probably buy a pair of these. Eric brought the boot shop with him on his last visit to Saskatoon. They fit like a glove, because they are custom fitted. I still carry the card with my boot size. If you buy the “These Boots” boot, you’ll have a lyrical sole. But then who wants to wear them. Hey, if you have an extra thousand doors, these boots are for you.
Other parts of the tour include the bar in your hotel carrying Jack Daniels and a special drink menu, a tour app that allows you a variety of special access pieces – like photos, pop up store locations. Doesn’t it all sound great! A very complete experience, no doubt. You will be with the cream of the crop Eric Church fans, that should enhance your experience. Maybe Eric even shows up at the hotel – that would be cool.
But how much money do you have to spend. I guess if you’re a super fan, money is no object. Oh wait, aren’t we in a time of fiscal responsibility. I would think for American friends this is even more of a time to tighten your belt. I would imagine there are people that will travel all over the place to see Eric, but when is enough enough. I haven’t heard much of a buzz about the new album .. however a new single is due very soon.
I still love going to Church, I must confess, I’m not totally believing at this time. (Double Down Tour kicks off this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska)
