More familiar faces expected when the Riders host Winnipeg Thursday night

More regulars will be in the Saskatchewan Roughriders line up Thursday night, when they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in their final pre-season tune up before the 2019 regular season gets underway.

After last weeks loss to Calgary, Coach Craig Dickenson said while they’re still in dress rehearsal mode, they do want to be much a more competitive team.

“We expect to be a lot more competitive this game, we’re playing our starters all the way into the 3rd quarter if we need to,” Dickenson said. “The goal is still to evaluate the team and put your best 12 out there when the game starts, but yes we certainly expect to be more competitive this game,” said Dickenson.

Zach Collaros is expected to be the starting quarterback and play at least the first half.

As is lineman Dan Clark, who was recently involved in a serious car accident.

“We will play Clark, I don’t know how much,” Dickenson said. “We’re gonna meet as a staff and just decide who’s going to play and for how long. We’ve got a pretty good idea, but we really want to see where are the key battles, we really want to put those guys out in the second half to see if we can find any key separation,” Dickenson added.

Pre-game coverage starts at 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, followed by kickoff at 7:00 p.m. with Derek Taylor and Luc Mullinder, on the Cooperators Rider Radio Network 620 CKRM.
