Mosaic Stadium prepares for Riders/Raptors viewing party

Officials with EVRAZ Place were caught off guard somewhat by the amount of people who showed up at Mosaic Stadium to watch Game 5 of the NBA Finals, but they are now prepared for Thursday and Sunday if needed.

Almost 14,000 people came out to Regina’s Jurassic Park to watch the Raptors game on Monday.  A majority of them left disappointed after Toronto couldn’t close it out and lost by one point necessitating Thursday’s game which will go in Oakland starting at 7 PM.

Sabeen Ahmad with the Regina Exhibition Association Limited says they are ready for what is anticipated to be a larger crowd for Game 6 which will be preceeded by the start of the Saskatchewan Roughriders game in Hamilton which starts at 5.

“We are planning to be prepared for a full stadium.” Ahmad said.  “We are expecting around 16 t0 20 thousand people for the game.

On Monday, fans were only allowed to enter the stadium through one gate, but three will be open starting at 4:30.

Ahmad says the plan is for the Rider game to be shown on the MAXTRON starting at 5 with the basketball game then being shown when it starts.   For those who are invested in the Rider game, Ahmad says they will be able to go into the Harvard 620 lounge where the game will be on TV’s with sound.

The city will also be providing transit service for fans to get to and from the game.
