(Jamie) Mowing Vs. Shoveling

Yesterday afternoon I mowed the lawn…again. Considering we’ve had barely any rain this spring I’m surprised at how well the lawn is growing. Over the course of the last few weeks I’ve actually had to cut the lawn twice a week. I used to hate mowing the lawn when I was a kid, but nowadays I can’t wait to get out there on a beautiful afternoon with the dog and do my laps around the yard.

There is another job that I hated doing as a kid and I still hate it. Shoveling the sidewalk. We don’t have a lot of sidewalk to shovel when it snows, but it’s more than enough for me. The one advantage we do have in the winter is that we’re surrounded by neighbours who have snowblowers. Whenever we get a big snowfall, there’s always someone with a snowblower who decides to go up and down the whole street. As Corb Lund would say, “Mighty neighbourly.” One guy even has a blade on the front of an ATV and will drive along the sidewalk and clear the snow away. Now, that I could do.

I think my dislike of shoveling has everything to do with the fact that I hate everything that has to do with winter! It’s that simple. For me, the longer the summer, the better.

Speaking of which, summer arrives one week from tomorrow at 9:54 a.m. After that the days get shorter and we move closer and closer to winter.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
