Saskatoon Police charge woman with human trafficking

A 23-year-old woman is facing human trafficking charges in connection to a Saskatoon Police Service investigation which began last March.

The VICE Unit was told a woman was recruiting and trafficking three women for sexual exploitation in various cities in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Officers found the victims were allegedly recruited from personal introductions and through social media.

It’s alleged the suspect also stole money and personal belongings to maintain control over her victims, two-20 year-old women from Quebec and an 18-year-old woman from Moose Jaw.

The 23-year-old woman has ties to Quebec, and may go by the name ‘Mina’.

She appeared in court Thursday.

Police believe there may be more victims, and encourages anyone affected to contact the police or Crime Stoppers. The woman is charged with three counts each of human trafficking, uttering threats and theft over $5-thousand.
