RCMP have seized about 20-thousand cigarettes found near Marengo.
Crews observed a swerving vehicle on Highway 7 near the community and stopped the driver for a sobriety check.
During that process, RCMP spotted two large unmarked boxes containing the contraband product. It is believed the product originated in Eastern Canada and was headed for Calgary.
The driver, a 48 year-old man from Lacombe, who has not been named, is facing charges under the Excise and Tobacco Tax Acts, and will appear in Kindersley provincial court on August 20th.
