There’s some relief for drought-stricken parts of southern Saskatchewan.
The weather office says weekend rain was 65 millimeters near Humboldt, 46 millimeters in Yorkton, and 15 to 25 near Rosetown, Swift Current and Outlook.
Western Canadian Wheat Growers chair Jim Wickett says the rain was spotty on his farm near Rosetown, ranging from a quarter inch to an inch.
He says the moisture is welcome.
SARM president Ray Orb says the rain will help but more is needed and his group may be talking soon with federal and provincial officials about a drought plan.
He is concerned about feed supplies for livestock producers and some water supply issues.
APAS has called on government for drought aid, including water development programs and creation of a drought committee.
Regina, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon received only a trace of rain.
