Stolen vehicle pursuit on northern SK First Nation results in RCMP officer firing weapon

Saskatoon police have started an investigation after an RCMP officer fired his gun over the weekend during an incident on the Waterhen Lake First Nation.

RCMP say they were on the First Nation Sunday looking for suspects believed to have been involved in a home invasion earlier that day.

The suspects were located in a vehicle, but when officers tried to pull the vehicle over a chase ensued which resulted in the vehicle being pursued ramming the RCMP cruiser setting off the airbags thus disabling it.

The officers got out and attempted to make an arrest with one of the officers firing his weapon after feeling there was a threat.

Neither suspect was hit with the pair being arrested a few hours later after the same vehicle that had been involved in the chase hit a home.

28-year-old Dylan Lasas and 20-year-old Stuart Lasas face a variety of charges including assaulting police with a weapon, robbery and flight from police.

They are scheduled to appear in a Meadow Lake courtroom July 8
