Teen charged with attempted robbery and stolen vehicle

A 15-year-old male has been handed numerous charges following an incident that occurred on Wednesday in east Regina.

The charges come after the youth attempted to stop a vehicle on the Victoria Street service road with a stolen truck in an effort to rob a driver at gun point. Regina Police were dispatched at 1:15 a.m. to Graham Road and East Jenkins Drive after the failed attempts following a call from the victim.

At 1:15 in the afternoon on that same day, police located the young man, and he attempted to flee police on foot. Members of the RPS Canine Unit eventually arrested the suspect male, and upon a search, found a firearm on him.

The male youth cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He is facing the current charges:

  • Possession of a weapon;
  • Carry concealed weapon;
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
  • Possession of a firearm or weapon obtained by crime;
  • 2x Fail to comply with an undertaking;
  • Careless storage of firearm;
  • Theft under $5,000;
  • Possess property obtained by crime under $5,000;
  • Robbery; and
  • Theft of motor vehicle.

His first appearance in Youth Court was yesterday, June 20th, at 2:00 p.m.
