UPDATE: RCMP called out to train derailment near Kelliher

Update

Crews are still working on the clean up and repair of the train derailment site 8 kilometres east of Kelliher, Sask.

According to the RCMP, CN Rail believes the track will be operational sometime between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

It has been confirmed by police that there were no injuries in the accident and no dangerous goods were involved in the incident.

The highway is open, but motorists are asked to use caution near the area and follow signage while being aware of personnel on-site.

CN police and staff are at the scene supervising the clean up and repair.

 

Original story

Melville and Ituna RCMP were dispatched near the town of Kelliher last night after a train derailment by Highway 15.

The incident occurred approximately 8 kilometres east from the community.

Officers helped set up detours on Highway 15 for drivers while derailed train cars were removed from the scene.

Motorists will need to use caution in the area of the incident and are asked to be aware of personnel working on-site.

No injuries have yet been reported by police.
