Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill neighborhood has experienced a number of homicides over the last couple weeks.
So far this year, the city has had a total of nine homicides, four of which have taken place within the last two weeks.
Of those four, three have taken place in Pleasant Hill.
Saskatoon’s Police Chief, Troy Cooper said they’ll be increasing police presence in Pleasant Hill over the next month following the rise of severe crime in the area.
Copper added a number of officers and detectives have been working on the homicide investigations.
The increase of police in the area will include both uniformed and plain clothed officers. Cooper says they want to make sure the community is heard and each time they have an opportunity to reach out to the community a little more, the SPS will begin to have meetings with community leaders and community members to look at long term strategies.
Cooper says there are no reasons to believe the string of recent homicides are connected.
