Residents in southwest Saskatchewan are on high alert Thursday morning thanks to a wildfire in the region.

Those in the rural Municipality of Maple Creek are being told to pay close attention to the SaskAlert System as crews battle to keep a wildfire under control.

The blaze is under control at the moment and hot spots are being monitored, but residents are being told to be ready to evacuate at a moments notice should it be necessary.

Motorists passing by are also being asked to avoid the area.
