Independent report states Brooks concerts is an economic boost for Regina

Garth Brooks has come to Regina this weekend and so have many others.

Praxis Consulting has conducted an independent report into the economic activity the two shows Friday and Saturday night will bring to Regina with the final tally being between 13 and 15 million dollars.

CEO Valerie Sluth says a lot of their figures do depend on where people are coming from and how much time they are spending in Regina.

“If we do have a lot of out-of-town stays, it impacts the hotel and entertainment industry.” Sluth says. “We see over 300 jobs short-term being created by the shows.”

Sluth adds hosting another major event like this only further validates what Regina can do and that others do see it and the civic pride that is generated from doing so.
