Big 8th inning sends Red Sox to second round of WCBL playoffs

The Regina Red Sox were forced to go to a third and deciding game in their first-round playoff series against Moose Jaw and for a while it looked like the league’s top team would be victims of a major upset.

The Red Sox trailed Game 3 at Currie Field Saturday night by a score of 2-1 going into the bottom of the 8th, but they scored five times in that inning to take control and win 6-3.

Adam De La Cruz and Willie Estrada each had three hits for the winners.  For Estrada, it was his last game as he has signed a major league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and has been assigned to their rookie league team in Clearwater, Florida.

The win also means there is action at Currie Field Sunday night as the Swift Current 57’s come to town for Game 1 of a best of three East Division final.  Game time is 7:05
