How did Team SK do at Day 6 of WCSG

Phase 2 competition of the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games kicked off Wednesday, with games, matches and practices taking place in Swift Current, Lac Pelletier, and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.

Baseball, Tennis and Indoor Volleyball began their round robin play, while Athletics, Golf, Diving, Rowing, Triathlon and Wrestling athletes geared up for the start of their competitions on Thursday.

With all results from Phase 1 now made final, Team Sask sits a close third in the race for Game Points, with a total of 61 — just shy of Manitoba’s 64. Game points are calculated by ranking all participating teams by final placing, with first place receiving 6 points, second place 5 points, and so on.

GOLD: 21 | SILVER: 28 | BRONZE: 33 | TOTAL: 82

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: Saskatchewan’s women defeated Team NT in three straight sets. Excellent serving by #12 JORDY MCEACHERN (Regina) in the second set helped Team Sask stop a late rally by NT. A dynamic block in the third set gave the win to SK 25-15

BASEBALL: Saskatchewan took on Alberta (5-10 AB) for their first game of the round robin, followed by a loss to Manitoba. The team will play again tomorrow at 2 PM (vs. Alberta) and 6 PM (vs. Manitoba)

TENNIS: Saskatchewan’s tennis team faced off against Alberta today in the Team Mix event, with 25 points earned. The Team Mix continues tomorrow, with Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles also taking place at the newly-refurbished Riverside Park courts
