SGI reminding motorists to watch for farm equipment as harvest gets into full swing

With harvest starting to get rolling, you’ll likely see more farm machinery on highways around Saskatchewan.

SGI’s Tyler McMurchy said there is an increased risk for accidents involving farming equipment, and reminds drivers to stay back, and slow down.

“Farm equipment is much longer and wider than typical vehicles you see on the road, and it could be deceptively so as well, so drivers should make sure they are paying extra attention and give themselves plenty of time and space to pass when it is safe to do so,” McMurchy said.

Preliminary numbers from 2018 show there were 12 collisions involving farm equipment, resulting in two deaths and ten injuries.
