A Yorkton family will be receiving Habitat for Humanity’s next home

The 8th home that Habitat for Humanity will soon build in Yorkton was gifted to another deserving family Thursday.

Tom Seeley, Co-Chair of Habitat for Humanity, says Maranda Belcourt and her family are in need of a new home. “We’re really excited to have Maranda as our family for this habitat house. She has six kids and will provide the family with some opportunities to have sleep overs and have her parents visit. It’s a real life changing thing for her.”

Seeley says there are some requirements when applying for a habitat home. “Families need to be working families, their income has to hit a certain level. It can’t be too little because they have to pay for the house and it can’t be too much or they could afford to go into the market to pay for the home. They have to need a home and they can’t have too much debt.”

The nearly 1,000 square -foot home will be completed by next spring.
