Mother of missing Yorkton girl says tips are always encouraging after possible sighting in Edmonton

News of unconfirmed sightings of a missing now 20-year-old Yorkton woman in Edmonton is bittersweet for Mekayla Bali’s family.

Her mother Paula said she was called August 8th by a man who claims to have met Mekayla this past March.

“So there’s been quite a time lapse in between the sighting and it being reported because he did not realize she’s potentially a missing person,” Bali said.

She added the family is always pleased when tips and information come in.

Bali said she has spoken with both Edmonton Police and the RCMP about the supposed sightings, and is considering going their to investigate for herself.

Absolutely, there has been quite a bit of communication going on because certainly as this becomes more public and people are looking there is going to be more tips, I actually just got off the phone with another tip coming in.

Since Mekayla’s disappearance tips have come from all over the world.

Meykayla was last seen in Yorkton’s bus depot in April of 2016.
