(Jamie) Hey, Isn’t That Candy Out Just A Little Early?

Over the weekend I was at the grocery store with my list in one hand and a shopping basket in the other. While I was going up and down the aisles I saw something that made me look twice.

I saw a display featuring those big boxes of mini chocolate bars that I only see around Halloween. Was I seeing things? I was suddenly running numbers through my mind wondering whether or not I’d lost a month somewhere. It seemed odd to me that a store would be featuring Halloween candy more than two months before the actual event!

The kids aren’t even back in school yet and plans are already in motion to get them all sugared up before sending them off into November.

If that’s how far ahead stores are planning now, does that mean we should be seeing Christmas displays and hearing Christmas songs in the stores by the middle of September? God, I hope not.

I understand we’re less than a month away from the first day of fall, but let’s not rush things along here. We still have baseball and football to get through yet!

After that, then we can start worrying about Christmas.
