PEI drops out as intervener for federal carbon tax challenge case

Prince Edward Island says it has decided not to intervene in Saskatchewan’s Supreme Court of Canada case over the carbon tax.

Last month, Premier Dennis King said his province was joining the challenge because it wanted to have a chance to speak to the issue if necessary.

The Saskatchewan government confirmed Friday that PEI is no longer joining.

A spokesperson for Premier Scott Moe says the government respect’s PEI’s decision, and is encouraged by the support of Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec, and New Brunswick in the case.
