Pats continue preseason with a trip to Swift Current Thursday night

The preseason continues for the Regina Pats tonight when they visit the Swift Current Broncos.

The Pats lost 5-4 in a shootout the last time these two teams met on Saturday at the Brandt Centre.

Head coach Dave Struch said systematically, they have liked what they have seen so far this preseason, despite the 1-2 record thus far.

“We’ve added a few things to our game, and we’ve been able to do it because of the additional experience, growing a year older,” Struch said. “Obviously we had a poor outing against Saskatoon in the second period, but other than that we’ve liked what we’ve seen, we’ve had a younger group, obviously we’re going to get a little bit older moving forward.”

Struch said all in all they like where they are four games away from the regular season.

“We’ve had a good opportunity to see and evaluate young guys, and that becomes the most important part moving into this weekend,” Struch said. “Now we get into a position where we can start getting the lines together that we want to see in game one, experimenting a little bit more, and hoping the players get a little bit better feel for each other.”

It’s a 7 o’clock puck drop and the game can be heard on 620 CKRM starting at 6:35 with the pregame show. The Pats also saw the return of defenceman Nikita Sedov, who missed much of training camp due to visa issues.
