More and more people are working in Saskatchewan

Numbers released by Stats Canada Friday morning show over a 12-month period that the provincial unemployment rate has dropped by 1.5 percent.

Those numbers show the unemployment rate in Saskatchewan sitting at 5.1 percent which is third lowest in the country with only Quebec and B.C having better numbers.

Job growth in forestry, fishing, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, accommodation, food services and healthcare more than offset declines in trade, transportation, warehousing and business and building services according to the report from Canada’s number cruncher.

In a release from the provincial government, they say August marks the 13th straight month of year-over-year job increases with 13-thousand more people earning a paycheque in Saskatchewan from August of last year.
