(Jamie) I’ll Have To Learn To Be More Thorough

Yesterday morning, even before the sun was up, I was showered and ready to take Max to the dog park for a nice run on a beautiful brisk morning. Not a cloud in the sky. It was a great day to be outside. Better yet, my wife had started breakfast, which means we’d be coming home to a delicious meal. What a great way to start a Sunday.

After the run at the park and breakfast it was time to get my usual Sunday morning shopping done. When I hit the grocery store I grabbed a cart instead of a basket, which will give you an indicator of just how long this shopping list was. The length of the shopping list was an indicator of exactly who wrote it up. It wasn’t me.

When I got to the store one of the ladies who works there actually commented on the fact that I had a cart instead of my usual basket. They do know me well over there.

As I was rolling through the produce department, one hand pushing the cart while the other held the list I was feverishly looking over, I noticed a man standing there just looking around. I commented that he looked lost and he replied he wished he would have made a list like I did. I told him, “Trust me, I’m sure I’ll still forget a few items, even with a list.”

I read that list over and over, just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. When I was totally satisfied that I had not missed anything, I rolled my cart into one of the checkout lanes where, once again, a comment was made about me using a cart.

After I got home I realized that I had missed a couple of items on that stupid list, so back to the grocery store I went.

At least I didn’t need a cart that time!
