What are these bugs eating nowadays? Better make sure your washer fluid tank is full

I hate to break this to you, but I have to tell you your windshield is about to be bugged. Don’t worry, mine is too. Yes, ’tis the season where bugs are out in full force and windshields are their target. While traveling on holidays mine was such a mess I could barely see though it to pull into a gas station only to learn they have no squeegee or bug cleaner! What the heck?

Yesterday on my way back home to Regina I thought I had encountered rain. Turns out a huge bug hit the windshield so hard that it spread out over the whole thing! Kind of impressive but kind of sad at the same time. By the time I got home the windshield looked like a piece of art done by a very angry renaissance painter. Reds, yellows, and greens dotted the glass all over. While it may have looked pretty, it was a mass insect graveyard with a smell that killed my appetite for supper. Part of me actually felt sad for those bugs.

I’m not sure what some of those insects are eating to be the size they are. At times, it felt like, and sounded like, I smacked a small bird. Thankfully it wasn’t a bird but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a bug that had a gym membership and was eating multiple protein bars throughout the day. The fact it didn’t crack my windshield is a testament of how strong that glass is!

My point here is make sure your washer fluid tank is fully filled before driving out especially in the early evening hours. It may not be a bad idea to carry a spare squeegee just in case a service station is out!
