Midale man missing and believed dead near Banff

The family of a Midale man who has gone missing near Banff are hoping for a miracle, but feel he has died.

48-year-old Jeff Newton was last seen September 3. His car was discovered two days later with a search starting last Friday for him. Over 40 people had been looking for Newton by foot, helicopter and drones but rainy weather has forced a halt to the search.

The family believes Newton, who had just taken up mountain climbing, has probably died given the less than ideal conditions and how long he has been missing.

Meanwhile, a search continues for 61 year old Terrence Kereluke. He went missing after going for a walk at a lodge in Sundre over the weekend.

Wet weather has also hampered that search.
