SaskEnergy warns of telemarketing scam

If you get one of these calls, be warned.

SaskEnergy says someone is calling customers, claiming to be from the utility, threatening to disconnect their natural gas service unless they pay a bill within 30 minutes.

The callers are telling customers to pay by cash or Bitcoin. SaskEnergy says this not someone from the service and it would never request a payment by cash, Bitcoin, or within a 30 minute time frame.

If you receive one of these calls, you are asked to call SaskEnergy to report it. Customers from Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Duck Lake and Gull Lake have reported the scam.
