Provincial NDP once again accusing Sask Party government of hiding crown sell-off information

The provincial NDP is once again accusing the Sask Party government of not being transparent with their plans to sell off crown corporations.

This comes after privacy commissioner ordered the release of more information on the potential sale of SaskTel and the committee organized to make the deal, and according to the NDP, there has not been enough information released to this point.

SaskTel Critic Warren McCall said this is a serious governmental issue.

“This is a government that in 2007, said it would be the most open and accountable government in the history of Saskatchewan, it’s a government that said they wouldn’t privatize the crowns,” McCall said. “Time and again on both of those two points, we find how something very different has gone on with this government.”

McCall said they don’t even know who was on the crown sell-off committee.

“We don’t know if it was chaired by Scott Moe, or who the chair was,” McCall said. “If they want to be the most open and accountable government in the history of Saskatchewan, this information should be coming.”

Justice Minister Don Morgan responded via statement, saying the NDP is using fear tactics once again, adding SaskTel makes the decisions on what information to release with no input from the provincial government.
