Regina City Council will layout rules and regulations for “body rub” parlours Monday night

Regina City Council is holding a special meeting on Monday to discuss body rub parlour regulations and decide a licensing plan.

Back in June administration laid out recommendations for licensing the controversial parlors.

Recommendations in the report included keeping the establishments in industrial zones and setting a minimum distance of one block from school’s churches, daycare’s and other body rub parlours.

Mayor Michael Fougere has said one goal is to help protect workers in the sex trade.

Police are also in favor of allowing these parlors to operate legally and within boundaries, hoping it will reduce sex crimes including human trafficking.

Thirteen delegates will speak to council about the parlours during Monday’s meeting.

The meeting will begin Monday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. from Henry Baker Hall.
