Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer brought his campaign tour to Saskatoon Saturday afternoon.
The Tori leader spoke to hundreds of Conservative supporters who packed into the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market to hear him speak for a brief time.
During his short Bridge City visit, Scheer touched on his plans for an energy corridor, removing the GST from home heating bills and home energy bills in addition to scraping the federal carbon tax.
Scheer said a corridor carrying oil, gas, hydroelectricity and telecommunications across the country would increase certainty for investors, help get critical projects built and generate economic and social benefits for all Canadians.
Protesters were held to a minimum, although some standing outside brought signs regrading climate change. Scheer was the only leader out of the four major federal parties not to take part in any of the climate strike rallies Friday.
He also hyped up the Saskatoon crowd by saying “It’s about time that we have another Prime Minister from Saskatchewan.”
Scheer’s stop in Saskatoon was his second stop of the day. The Tori leader was in Edmonton earlier in day announcing his plans for an energy corridor.
