Downtown will be full of life Sunday night for the sophomore edition of Nuit Blanche Regina.
The free art festival will feature a variety of pieces from sculptures and sound art to spoken word and theatre in a number of locations.
Michelle Harazny, the artistic director for Nuit Blanche Regina, believes it’s an opportunity to enjoy a unique experience in the Queen City.
“It’s pretty cool. People can come out to interact and meet with the artists,” said Harazny. “It’s great for the downtown because businesses are staying open late so they’ll have more customers.”
A number of art installations will be spread out in areas such as Scarth Street, Victoria Park and the City Square Plaza.
The public will be able to enjoy artwork at from 16 local artists and even international artist Ricardo Bizafra from Brazil.
Harazny is encouraging people to attend since they will be in for an unforgettable night out. “Be prepared to see artwork in places that you may not usually see art like in the park or back alleys.”
She also suggested guests should layer up to stay warm during their visit since the event runs from 7:00 p.m. until midnight. For more information, view their Facebook page Nuit Blanche Regina.
Nuit Blanche festivals occur in many cities across the globe with the same invitation for the public to view the arts and entertainment at night. The term “nuit blanche” translates from French meaning “sleepless night”.
