Details on 2020 Grey Cup tickets announced

It is a question many have been asking since we found out Regina would host the 2020 Grey Cup.

The question as to how much tickets will cost for the game were answered today (Thursday) with the cost ranging from $110, which will be in Pil Country, to the most expensive seats at $475.

During Thursday morning’s announcement from the stadium, Chief Brand Officer Anthony Partipilo mentioned two changes to the venue’s seat map. They’ve created a new ‘Emerald’ section which incorporates sections 118, 119, 138, 139 and 239. The club will also be expanding Pil Country, bringing the total capacity for the big game to approximately 35,000.

“We have a lower price point than we did in 2013. The expansion of Pil Country has allowed us to add more tickets in those categories,” said Partipilo to reporters on Thursday.

Mosaic Stadium is capable of expanding to 40,000 for special events. So some fans might be wondering why officials have chosen not to expand.

After taking a very in-depth look at temporary stands, they felt it would not be a feasible option.

“In order to install them, you’d need anywhere from 6-8 weeks,” stated Partipilo. “You need to close the south concourse, and Pil Country would have to be closed. It just wasn’t feasible.”

Other reasons he noted included fear of congestion, wait times at concessions and bathrooms, and considerable costs for ticket prices. “We decided to stay with our original footprint. The CFL agrees with our approach.”

The organization will be finding ways to accommodate fans who aren’t able to attend. They will be considering events such as watch parties to help keep fans engaged during the game.

Starting today (Thursday), Rider season ticket holders can renew their tickets for next year and secure their seat to the game at special season ticket holder pricing. They also get early bird pricing on their season tickets if they purchase before December 20th. Those wanting to become season ticket holders are asked to go to Riderville dot com and sign up for the season ticket waitlist.

Tickets for the game and the Grey Cup Festival will be available to the general public on June 16th.
