FCC Drive Away Hunger campaign runs Wednesday and Thursday in Sask

Farm Credit Canada’s Drive Away Hunger campaign is being held Wednesday and Thursday across Saskatchewan.

The FCC will be collecting donated food at various locations in Moose Jaw and Yorkton Wednesday for local food banks.

In Regina and Humboldt, the campaign goes Thursday.

The goal in Regina is to raise 387 thousand meals, the number reached last year.

Regina Food Bank CEO John Bailey says the FCC campaign is extremely important for the food bank.

Bailey says the Regina food bank provides food to about 9 thousand people a month or close to 100 thousand people a year.

Close to 300 people came for help at the Regina food bank every day last month.

The FCC hopes to raise over 5 million meals for food banks across Canada this month.

Last year, the agency raised over 9 million meals.
