Taser found during sobriety stop check on Highway 16: RCMP

A North Battleford woman is facing weapons charges after a sobriety stop check on Highway 16 near Maidstone.

RCMP say during the traffic stop officers smelled cannabis in the vehicle.

Police say the driver passed the Standard Field Sobriety Test, but during the search of the vehicle officers found a taser that belonged to the passenger.

Officers also found a legal amount of cannabis that was not seized.

Twenty-year-old Bethanie Johnson is facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carry a concealed weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Johnson was arrested and released on the promise to appear in court in Lloydminster on November 26th.
