Regina will now offer free transit for the federal election

The City of Regina will be offering free transit on election day after all.

A free bus pass that can be printed or displayed through a smart phone on election day is available for residents to access the transit service to their polling station.

Director of transit Brad Bells said this comes after inquiries made to the City on the matter.

“We just think it’s a good opportunity for us to provide transit for people that may have some requirements that they can’t get to their polling station, so we want to help out and provide a key role in getting to the polling station so they can get out and vote.”

Bells says the City sees this as an opportunity to showcase Regina transit to more potential users.

“It’s an opportunity for us to promote transit as a way of getting around the city and again, most folks that are in the neighbourhood will get to their polling stations and they can go vote that way, so we see it more as an opportunity for us.”

The free bus pass download can be found on the City’s website.
